Mohammedan Sporting Club emerged victorious against Army Red at the Mohammedan Sporting Ground today, clinching a commanding 3-1 win in their fourth Calcutta Football League match of the season.
The first half saw both teams locked in a tense battle to break the deadlock. Mohammedan Sporting Club gained the upper hand with two crucial goals before halftime. Jersey number 30, Israfil opened the scoring in the 38th minute, capitalizing on a pinpoint through ball from the skipper to put Mohammedan Sporting Club ahead. Just before the halftime whistle, Israfil struck again with a header in added time, extending Mohammedan Sporting Club’s lead to 2-0 going into the break.
Mohammedan Sporting Club continued their dominance in the second half with another goal in the 53rd minute. Adison showcased his accuracy with a perfect finish, assisted by the captain, further solidifying the team’s position in the match with a 3-0 advantage.
Despite a spirited effort from Army Red, they managed to pull back one goal from the penalty kick in the 67th minute, but it wasn’t enough to threaten Mohammedan Sporting Club’s lead.
The Man of the Match was awarded to Israfil Dewan for his two goals.
The final scoreline stood at 3-1 in favour of Mohammedan Sporting Club, marking their second win from four matches played in the CFL 2024.
